We're gearing up for this baby girl to maker her debut. After last week's doctor appointment (when they told us we could opt for an elective induction) we went back and forth a little about whether to go for it. I started having those icky painful contractions all night on about Wednesday (they are pretty consistent about starting around the kids' bedtime and keeping me uncomfortable until morning) but no baby. So by the time I went in on Friday morning for my 38 week appointment, we were all about induction!
The doc I got that day would have been fine letting me hang out preggers until I just went into labor, so I had to be a little pushy (no pun intended). He set me up for Tuesday morning, so we only have two days left until we meet this cute thing!
Here are the stats:
Weeks pregnant (for visit): 38 wks 5 days
Pre-pregnancy weight: 113 lbs
Current weight: 149 lbs
Net weight gain: 36 lbs
Doctor visits: 14
Ultrasounds: 3
Cups peed in: 13
Blood draws: 4.5
Baby's heart rate: 166 bpm
Baby girl's produce size: Watermelon (@ 39 weeks)
We've been talking about baby's fruit size with Grace since Juliette was a sweet pea, and she's known since the beginning that baby needed to be the size of a watermelon before she was born. So when we told her that Juliette's birth day had moved up (she's been doing a countdown with me and telling her kindergarten teacher every day) she said, "She's the size of a watermelon?!" :) She is thrilled to be getting her baby sister this week.
She is definitely the size of a watermelon.
Over the last week we've been pretty exhausted (Steve has been finishing up his MICU rotation, which is typically 12-14 hour days) so the hubs and I have been going to sleep almost as soon as the kids are down, at like 8pm. So strange for us!
But we've also been trying to squeeze in some time with our two big kiddos before we go into baby lockdown for a bit. Last week we took them to the Dixie Classic Fair and watched them go on rides and fed them (and me) candy apples. They were adorable--so thrilled to be on the rides--and have been pretending to be on the up-and-down firetruck ride on our couches or in their beds all week. :) And Friday night we took them on a little "family date" for "Costco-dinner" (Charlie eats pizza crusts only) followed by Frogurt for dessert. They were up late and it was fun to hang out with them and watch them be silly (they excel at being silly).
Her room is looking happy. Steve hung up her shelves and I've been working on a little art piece to go over the chair where we'll feed/snuggle her. It needs a few more things to finish it off, but it looks cheerful and like a real room now. We love to just stand in it and think of her balled up in a baby-tuck in her crib.
